About
Regional Research Institute for Homoeopathy is the research Institute in India under CCRH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India for carrying out research and treatment in the field of homoeopathic system of medicine. An extension unit of RRI(H), Puri is in the Dr. Abhin Chandra Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Bhubaneswar as a Drug Proving Unit, Bhubaneswar . This institute was first established as a Clinical Research Unit in April 1980 at a rented house in Puri. In May 1987, a building of 4440 sq. ft. was donated in Marchikote lane, Puri by Mrs. Sudharani Ghosh to CCRH. Thereafter, OPD started in this building and for the first time, a 10-beded IPD was started. The Clinical Research Unit was upgraded to Regional Research Institute for Homoeopathy. Initially the institute functioned as a centre for Filariasis as Puri is an endemic belt for filaria. But, in course of time, many patients with clinical conditions other than filaria were treated in the OPD. The project of filariasis was continued in Puri for a period of 23 years (1980-2003). In December 2003, another building of 1800 sq. ft., in Gopal Ballav Road, 2kms from Marchikote lane was donated to CCRH by a retired DSP of Puri, Mr. Debendra Kumar Das in memory of his beloved parents. An OPD was started running in G.B Road there after along with the OPD in Marchikote lane. In March 2004, CRU (T) of Sambalpur and Jeypore were merged with RRI(H), Puri and in February 2008, CRU (T) Jagdalpur was also merged in this institute. In 2006, an extension unit of RRI(H), Puri was opened in the Dr. Abhin Chandra Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Bhubaneswar as a Drug Proving Unit. In November 2008, the OPD of Marchikote lane was completely shifted to the building at G.B. Road. The 10-beded IPD along with the office continued functioning in the building at Marchikote lane.
