Homoepathy was discovered by a German Physician, Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), In the late eighteen century. It is a therapetic systemof medicine premised on the principle,"Similia Similibus Curentur" or 'let likes be treated by likes'. It is a method of treatment for curring the patient by medicines that posses the power of producing similar symptoms in a human being simulating the natural disease, which it can cure in the diseased person, It treates the patients not only through holistic approach but also considers individuaistic characteristics of the person. This concepts of 'Law of Similars' was also enuncaited by Hippocrates and Paracelsus, but Dr. Hahnemann established it on a scientific footing despite the fact that he lived in an age when modern laboratory methods were almost unknown.
About
Regional Research Institute for Homoeopathy (RRI-H) is a research institute under the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. The institute carries out research and provides treatment in the field of the Homoeopathic system of medicine. An extension unit of RRI-H, Puri, is located at Dr Abhin Chandra Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Bhubaneswar, functioning as a Drug Proving Research Unit (DPRU). The Regional Research Institute (H), CCRH, Puri, has buildings at two locations: Marchikote Lane and Gopal Ballav Road, Puri.
The institute was initially established as a Clinical Research Unit (CRU), Puri, in April 1980 in a rented house. In May 1986, the Bhubaneswar unit was merged with the Puri unit. In May 1987, a building measuring 4,440 sq. ft. at Marchikote Lane, Puri, was donated to CCRH by Mrs. Sudharani Ghosh. The unit was subsequently upgraded to the Homoeopathic Research Institute, Puri, in 1988. Thereafter, an OPD was started in the building, and a ten-bedded IPD was established for the first time.
Initially, the unit functioned as a centre for research on filariasis, as Puri was an endemic area for the disease. However, over time, many patients with clinical conditions other than filariasis also sought treatment at the OPD. The filariasis project continued for 23 years, from 1980 to 2003.
In December 2003, another building measuring 1,800 sq. ft., located on Gopal Ballav Road, approximately 2 km from Marchikote Lane, was donated to CCRH by Mr. Debendra Kumar Das, a retired DSP of Puri, in memory of his beloved parents. An OPD was subsequently started in the G.B. Road building, in addition to the existing OPD at Marchikote Lane. The institute was further upgraded to a Regional Research Institute (H) in December 2003.
In March 2004, the Sambalpur and Jeypore units were merged with RRI, Puri. In 2006, an extension unit of RRI (H), Puri, was established on the campus of Dr. Abhin Chandra Homoeopathic Medical College, Bhubaneswar, as a Drug Proving Research Unit. In February 2008, the Clinical Research Unit (CRU), Jagdalpur, was also merged with the institute.
In November 2008, the OPD functioning at Marchikote Lane was completely shifted to the G.B. Road building. The ten-bedded IPD, along with the office and ministerial staff, continued to function from the Marchikote Lane building.
Over the years, the annual OPD attendance has steadily increased, with patients from distant places seeking treatment at the institute for a wide range of clinical conditions. The institute is also actively engaged in conducting various research projects in the field of Homoeopathy.

- Efficacy of Rhustox. Vis-à-vis individualised Homoeopathic medicines on joint pain due to knee osteoarthritis: A Randomised Double Blind Placebo Controlled multicentric clinical Trial.
- Effectiveness of Individualized Homoeopathy vs Standard Care in the Management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: A Multicentric Randomised Controlled Trial.
- Management of Chronic Urticaria with Homoeopathic intervention as an add-on therapy versus placebo: A Randomised controlled study.

- To offer Ph.D. programmes in Homoeopathy.
- To conduct capacity-building and skill-development programmes.
