Epidemic Research

Since its establishment, the Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (CCRH) has been organizing medical relief camps for infectious diseases across India through a network of 23 institutions/units. The Council conducted a randomized controlled trial on Chikungunya in 2007 and on Influenza-like illness in 2010. CCRH has organized medical camps for various infectious diseases such as conjunctivitis, dengue, Japanese encephalitis, bacillary dysentery, yellow fever, jaundice, typhoid, measles, meningitis, cholera, viral fever, kala-azar, plague, malaria, chikungunya, and recently swine flu and chikungunya. Homeopathic medicines were distributed based on the genus of the infecting organism for immunization purposes for the above-mentioned diseases. Similarly, homeopathic medicines were provided to the patients based on the disease they contracted for treatment purposes.

4. Dengue

Dengue, an infectious disease, is not a health problem specific to any one country, but a global burden, with most parts of the world seeking methods for its prevention, especially when no vaccine for dengue exists. Homeopathic practitioners dealing with dengue cases have been provided with guidelines by the CCRH for the clinical management of dengue, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and education of homeopathic practitioners. The primary objective of these guidelines is to present relevant details to a clinician in daily practice for the management of dengue cases or suspected cases. These guidelines are also available on the Council's website. The Council has also developed an online data recording software for organized data management and analysis of treatment with homeopathy, called the Dengue Information System.

About CCRH

Homoepathy was discovered by a German Physician, Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), In the late eighteen century. It is a therapetic systemof medicine premised on the principle,"Similia Similibus Curentur" or 'let likes be treated by likes'. It is a method of treatment for curring the patient by medicines that posses the power of producing similar symptoms in a human being simulating the natural disease, which it can cure in the diseased person, It treates the patients not only through holistic approach but also considers individuaistic characteristics of the person. This concepts of 'Law of Similars' was also enuncaited by Hippocrates and Paracelsus, but Dr. Hahnemann established it on a scientific footing despite the fact that he lived in an age when modern laboratory methods were almost unknown.
